Over the past 36 hours, I’ve slept THREE!! The first 12 of those were shooting Kate & Rod’s wedding up in Rye. Now for the past 24, I’ve been doing MARATHON photo editing… with the help of my assistants, the goal was to have everything sorted, chosen, edited AND posted in 24 hours. It didn’t quite happen like that… things always take longer than planned, don’t they? But the wedding has been sorted, chosen, and 550 have been edited… leaving 200 to go. It is times like these when I’m like WHY do I think it is necessary to hand edit every single image??? Oh right. It’s not necessary. I just want to. It would be AWESOME to pull another all-nighter and finish this up, but I don’t think my little body will allow it…
So for now, here are some teasers… a three of my faves from yesterday:
Here I am, up bright and early… and getting the last minute things packed for today’s wedding. I’ve had my camera and lenses packed for two days, so it’s just the triple checking of all the necessities and the addition of other items: a light jacket, tissues for the parents, my favorite lip gloss, rice cakes (yes I actually like those things), wheat thins and apples (for Missy & Beth who just aren’t that into rice cakes) etc. I can’t wait to get up to Rye to start shooting, and I’m very excited about posting the images!
Stay tuned : )
This morning the talented Aria Renholder graced NYC with her presence. (In “real life” she’s Beth, but her stage name is Aria… isn’t that awesome???) I flew her in to assist me for Kate’s wedding on Sunday. Yep. And she is totally worth it. I love her. She is… one of those people to keep an eye on : ) So these next few days will be a blast!
WELCOME TO NEW YORK, ARIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This afternoon I had the privilege of going to lunch with Kate (whose wedding is this weekend!) We met up to go over last-minute details at the cutest little café in Manhattan, Rue 57. Today was the perfect day too: sunny with a high of 75, big fluffy clouds, and a light breeze. And of course Rue 57 is one of those cafés where they can open basically the entire wall to the outside. There are white table clothes, ferns hanging from the ceiling, and waiters who actually remember that you like your water without ice. I felt like I was back in Paris. What a wonderful day!
Julie Koontz… I love that girl! But tonight she asked me to start blogging EVERY DAY. I don’t know about that.
What about every month? Haha. My life just isn’t that exciting! I guess I do have some pretty sweet photoshoots I could stick up here……. but isn’t that a little cliche? Oh well. For now… Here’s to Julie!
The PDN Photo Expo is in a few weeks… I LOVE the photo expo. I love it because this is what happens every year: I go in thinking I’m good and on the cutting edge. Then after 20 minutes… ummmm, nix that. After 20 seconds of being on the trade floor, I feel like in the stone ages. It is so good to be challenged and to LEARN about all the new ways of doing things. I love it because I leave so inspired and so challenged and so humbled!
My seminar was yesterday… the first hour went perfectly and smoothly.
The 10 minute break was pleasant with breakfast danishes, fruit & coffee.
Then we came back from break. Disaster struck. The projector would NOT turn back on! I ran to go get the techies, but they could not figure it out!! I am so serious. This is literally “worst case scenario”. So I ended up speaking for TWO HOURS WITHOUT NOTES! It was so intense. Good thing I was totally prepared. (And had printouts!!) But I still consider it a total success. It was actuallly kinda exuberating to know that I can lecture for that long with “help”. I can’t wait for the next one…
Sign-Up for the seminar opened Friday evening at 6, and I got an email this morning saying that it was already full…
no stinkin way!!!!!!!!
